The City of Riverton is accepting applications for the position of Patrol Officer, The City of Riverton is an Equal Opportunity Employer. The Riverton Police Department is looking for full time and part time police officers. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, routine patrol, report writing, traffic enforcement, investigations, School Resource Officer Program, Special Response Team, Field Training Program, traffic incident investigation, general police work and community oriented policing . The next testing date will be February 12, 2007. All qualified candidates must complete a physical fitness assessment with the Riverton Police Department. All candidates that meet the physical fitness requirements will be eligible for Oral Board interviews.
Qualifications
The applicant must possess a high school diploma or GED. He/She must pass a physical assessment, complete background check, and a psychological exam. All applicants must take an entry level exam regardless of experience. A mandatory $15 fee is due at the time of the exam.
Special Training/Skills Desired
Must be currently certified with the Wyoming Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) Commission or have the ability to obtain certification with not more than 87 hours of academic instruction within one (1) year; or have a passing score on the entry level exam given on February 11, 2007.
Compensation
The pay range is from $14.72 to $19.14 per hour. Certified police officers may be eligible for a pay increase depending on experience. There is also the opportunity for overtime and evening pay. The position includes all City benefits, which includes Law Enforcement retirement, medical and dental insurance for the employee and up to 50% paid premiums for spouse and/or dependents, paid vacation, which accrues monthly based on hours worked, 20 hours of paid personal leave, 32 hours of paid funeral leave, sick leave which accrues monthly based on hours worked, and 80 hours of paid holiday time per year. The City of Riverton is accepting applications for the position of Recreation Services Director. The City of Riverton is an Equal Opportunity Employer. Duties include the following: Plans, organizes, directs and controls the recreation center and programs; oversees the maintenance of the City parks and recreation facilities; performs ongoing public relations in regard to efforts, promotions and advertising campaigns for all recreation services and programs (i.e. public meetings, educate the public through media and presentations); carries out personnel functions such as hiring, evaluating performance, discipline; oversees administration of the parks/recreation budget; writes grant applications; and evaluates departmental needs and formulates short and long range plans to meet needs of the community. SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports to the City Administrator.
Qualifications
Qualifications include the following: Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) Recreation Administration or Physical Education from four-year college or university; or five to ten years progressively responsible experience and/or training in Public Recreation; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have a valid Wyoming Class C driver’s license and a good driving record.
Special Training/Skills Desired
Must have a thorough knowledge of the methods and techniques of developing and operating city recreation, community education programs, parks and hospitality management and sales and marketing programs; principles of supervision; fiscal management and budget development; various recreation activities which target all segments of the community from youth to senior citizen; general office maintenance and practices; interpersonal communication skills; public relations; and legal environment related to safety and risk management practices and principles.
Compensation
Annual salary ranges from $48,000 to $62,000. The benefit package includes health insurance, city paid retirement plan, vacation, sick, holiday, personal leave benefits, and numerous optional benefit programs. Must be able to perform multiple tasks at one given time under stressful situations, deal with the public in a friendly and efficient manner and work all shifts to include nights, weekends and holidays. Computer, keyboarding and typing skills required. Must be able to obtain Professional Dispatcher Certification from Wyoming Peace Officer Standards and Training within one year of employment. Must also be able to obtain Wyoming Criminal Justice Information Network Certification within six (6) months of employment. A pretest will be required of each applicant. The top applicants from the testing will then be interviewed at a later date. A study guide for the test will be available at the Riverton Police Department.
